Kelowna October Beekeepers meeting.
NEW PLACE, NEW TIME An early meeting in the Club bee yard.
Due to Covid, the College is not available to host our meetings at this time. In light of this and with the success of having meet ups when doing hive inspections and working the bees we have decided to hold our October meeting at the bee yard also. We will be starting 2 hrs earlier, so it is still light out, and we will conclude the meeting before it gets dark.
Monday Oct 5th 5:00 p.m. untill 7:00 p.m. – out doors meeting at the bee yard on Spiers Rd. We will open the discussion to any questions and concerns that you have about beekeeping, especially this time of year. We will also discussion on problems we faced this past year and what works for other fellow beekeepers.
We do have some chairs, but if you have a few that you could bring, in case more than 26 people show up.
The meeting will be held in close proximity to the bee hives (sometimes bees can be a little temperamental at this time of year) so if you are nervous around bees, feel free to bring your bee suit. We havebee suits available if you don’t have one or forget to bring one. The mosquitoes come out in the evening so I would suggest long pants and full sleeves and possibly a veil to keep them off your face. We have a bunch of tie on veils at the apiary if they mosquitos are bad.
To get there, head east on KLO Rd., cross the Mission Creek Bridge, turn right onto Spiers Rd., drive south 300 meters and immediately turn left into the large field. Hope to see you all there! -Keith
