Venue change for our Kelowna Beekeeping meetings!
The bee club (North Okanagan Division of the BCHPA) has entered into an agreement with the Okanagan College Culinary Department to keep and manage bees in exchange for space to hold our fall, winter, and spring meetings.
Our first meeting will be at 7:00 p.m. on Monday the 17th of September,
at the culinary arts building. Infusions Restaurant at Okanagan College
at the KLO Campus, 1000 K.L.O. Road; Kelowna.
On the agenda:
I will give a brief overview of the beekeepers display at the Armstrong Fair this year.
We will have an open discussion about preparing your hives for winter. I will be calling on a few of the long time beekeepers to share what works for them in successfully overwintering their hives.
I will introduce some of the chefs at the college and they will explain what they do, programs that are run, and they will give us a tour of the culinary building.
To show the wide variety of tastes that honey of the Okanagan can have I’m asking if we could each bring a jar of your honey, so the chefs can sample the variety of floral tastes found in our local honey. It will also kick start the use of honey in the culinary program for this year. A pint, a quart, a kilo, or 500 grams or less would be fine. We would not turn away any buckets of drums of honey though.
Looking forward to seeing you at the new Venue. Remember to bring your HONEY (Wife, Girlfriend, Boyfriend) and a sample of the golden nectar the bees provide for us.
**** See you all there!!!
